SUCRÉ NOVEMBER 2

                            SUCRΓ‰ NOVEMBER 2

                                       Part 2

Two days to his arrival, Bolanle called me begging me to remove the foetus that it was still possible, he said all sorts and devised every means to make me remove the baby. I thought of the risk in doing that. He told me he knew the best doctors and I should not be afraid. My world came crumbling down as he hung up the phone. I wept because I could not phatom what had come over him. This minute he told me to keep it another minute he's advising me to go for abortion. The idea that Bolanle was telling me to abort bore a whole in my heart. I believed he would have a change of heart as I went to visit him the next day. I pleaded with him to see reasons with me yet he was bent on his decision. I told him I was scared I may lose my life, he assured me it was nothing. So we went to the hospital to get the baby removed. The doctor gave us the analysis and cost. Bolanle couldn't afford it and suggested we went to his quack friend to get rid of the baby. I felt I could be bold enough to ask my father for the money for the abortion so I went home in anticipation.
As my father arrived, I went to pick him and soon we began talking as he entered my sitting room in admiration walked about but I was not bold enough to tell him, I only asked him for more money than usual which he told me he would send to me and also let me know my family was still poor and reminded me I was here only because of the scholarship I was given. He told me they were all looking up to me as the first born of the family even though he had a son out of wedlock, he wouldn't want us to follow in that path. He advised me as he began leaving because he wanted to take a walk on the beach before his meeting the next day. Few months gone, Bolanle would not change his mind then I told my brother (the one born out of wedlock) he was furious at first then asked who the father is, I gave him full details and without hesitation, he told my father. I had graduated so my father told me to come home immediately. I knew what that meant and my father being the chief of the yourba land, I had disgraced him. So I tried reaching Bolanle before heading to the airport. He told me never to call him since I would not adhere to his word.

I was in Africa, Nigeria to be precise in two days. They welcomed me with my bulging tummy and my father told me how disappointed he was and how I have failed our family" sobs of bitterness enveloped me on hearing the sadness in my father's voice. Getting through to Bolanle proved abbortive, so I reached for his best friend whom I asked to direct me to Bolanle's house in Nigeria. I and my brother went to visit them the next day. Initially, they didn't believe it as Bolanle never told them anything. The mother made a hell of trouble vouching for her son and raining curses on anybody that would want to jeopardise their son's future or put her family under duress. They put a call through him before his mother will finish talking, he picked and affirmed to it and said he was not interested in the baby and refused to come home. I could not hide my anger as I walked out leaving my brother to conclude with them.

Most nights I would cry and hope he has a rethink. As it was so disgraceful seeing me with a big tummy and not married, my father told me to stay with my aunt in Osun State and leave the house in Lagos. My aunt was very nice and caring. She had a soft spot for me. The day I was to deliver my baby, I didn't know on time but I told my aunt I was seeing water in large quantities dropping, she had never had to go through that she Had no inclination so she told her husband who told me to pack my bag and rushed me to the hospital. I gave birth like the Hebrew woman but the after pain couldn't be explained as they stitched me. I was glad I could look at my baby. "My beautiful baby, I would adorn you with all my gold and silver" I said out loud.
The naming ceremony of my baby was on the 2nd of August 2015, lo and behold Bolanle was there as it was a taboo for the husband to be away during the naming of his child. Bolanle prostrated on the floor begging I and my mother to forgive him as my father was absent . Before that day, my uncle called him to threaten him if he doesn't show up at the naming without my consent and that was when he denied the baby saying "they should ask me who the father of the baby is". He apologized and the ceremony went on but the hurt in my heart could not be contained. After the ceremony I told him how I used all my savings to cater for my pregnancy, he begged for forgiveness but said we would not come back together as he was afraid of responsibility and was not ready to take care of himself. I told him never to speak to me or my baby after that day. He wouldn't listen, he would call and apologize but he was still not ready to have a family. He still wanted to have fun and live his life before settling down. Sometimes I wonder what changed the sweet loving Bolanle I used to know.  Then I started ignoring him. One day, he called my mother to tell her I have been ignoring his calls that he was going back to school as he failed some courses. I said to her that whatever one sows, that he will reap.

A year later, I met Prince an igbo man, tall and sleek. He came to see my parents without hesitation as our relationship got serious, he told them how much he loved me and would want us to get married. Without much adio, we got married September 2nd 2015. Now Bolanle is trying to figure out his life and thinking of how to take the baby from me...
Prince my husband took I and my baby girl Mitchelle to South Carolina for a visit and we are considering getting our permanent resident permit.
As I dropped my pen, I decided to let the world know about me and not go through the path I took.

My advise: Don't do anything for the moment
Moments don't last forever
No matter what you are going through, God is preparing a better place for you
Children are a heritage of the Lord.

SUCRÉ NOVEMBER 1

                                SucrΓ© November

                                         PART 1

This is based on a true life happening. Their names have been changed in the course of the story. By no means should anyone refer to the persons involved. This is a story to help individuals learn from their mistakes.

As I look out the window in the beautiful street of South Carolina, my dilemma rushes down like a flowing stream, I blink the anger and fear it brings away. "How adorable are the leaves in autumn, they fall to the ground sparsely flying in different directions. I stare at the withered nature. The rays of the sun blinds me as I try to watch it create an illusion. "I will play with these yellow, orange and red leaves someday when Mitchelle is grown" I said to myself.

Bolanle had a sweet side, his rock hard muscles that could have been sculptured out of granite made every girl sway in his direction. He helped me with the dishes as I made pancakes. He would be firm this minute and soft another, if you were not strong, you would rock more than one "yes" box before realizing you were acting out of a desperate woman's fantasy. He was a perfect ten to every woman. When I met him, he was not the type I wanted, I looked at him as one with no other vision other than chasing women. So I gave him a piece of my venom but he didn't give up. He would come all the way to Florida every weekend from Auburn. Soon he proved to me that he wasn't anything like that. We talked and soon became inseparable. He spoke with my parents in Africa and met my friends, I only knew his best friend but we were in love so it didn't matter because he said once I was done with my project, we would get married. How excited I was to tell my friends to pick out their dresses so that we could make final picks.
Few months into the relationship my slender and curvy self started bloating and eating a lot. He told me to start going to the gym of which I agreed then I noticed that anytime I did long hours, I would feel faint and slightly dizzy. He will buy me roses and take me for a walk on the beach both of us holding hands and laughing so hard. If you knew us, you would attest to our love. I called it "forever love". He was my bae (  before anyone else). Early on Monday morning, I was vomiting uncontrollably,  I was literally shaking and my room mate Lucia who was scared to death rushed me to the hospital out of fear. They confirmed I was pregnant and three months gone. I didn't know if death was an option but I wanted to die. My parents were not wealthy and they live in Africa. I went to my apartment but the tears won't stop rolling down as the pain hit me so hard.
I called Bolanle immediately, he came over and without a care, he got me the necessary medication and stocked my fridge with fruits and healthy foods. I was glad he was going to stay strong with me. He told me to keep it, that he was a proud father of my unborn child and I should get ready to join his family. I danced for joy and told my father to come over that I had something important to tell him as he had a meeting in the United States which enabled him to pay for the ticket and travel down.

Complete love

Love is truly a beautiful thing...
I was willing to do anything...
I remember last November when there was no contender
We had it all planned out...
Yes! Still smiling to myself
You will lift me on your muscular shoulder and spin me; happy with the fear it brings to my heart.
Our thundering laughter all night...
I am willing to go the length to feel you breathe again.
I would ride for you, slow whine for you even touch my toes for you...
I surrendered to you.
But then you used to love me
The rain used to fall
The sun used to shine
The honey was always sweet...
I will always love your love.

WHAT TO DO ON A FIRST DATE

In general people tend to date or marry someone with whom they have common characteristics or temperament. Dating is the process of spending quality time with prospective partners to become acquainted. Dates can take place in groups or between two individuals.

Free Mind Set
You must have an open mind irrespective of what you have heard about the person or what the general knowledge of the person is in terms of ethnicity, religion, exposure and friends. A lot of people judge individuals by what they think of them. This can be very misleading.

Choice of Location
The venue of the date should be a place you can afford at least a cup of ice cream or a drink. Whatever location you choose must be conducive without distractions.

Dress Code
There is no law that specifies what you should wear but having known your location, you should wear something that suits the location. If it's an eatery, the dress code can be warm and cool but if it's an evening date then you could go all out to wear your dinner gown for ladies and for the men, your suit/blazer will do.

Demands
Couples ought to be moderate in all their doings.

It has always been misunderstood that all women know is "I WANT THIS, GIVE ME THAT" but the truth is it is an individual thing not every woman is a grabber unlike the popular opinion.
It is not advisable to demand on the first date because it increases the suspicion of an ulterior motive which is not love. Also avoid eating what you are not familiar with just to create the impression of sophistication.

Stability
You have to be stable. In most cases we believe that first impressions can sustain us in a relationship but it doesn't happen that way.

Temperament
You must not try to flare at any slight sign of misbehaviour from your date.Consider his/her background, values, environment and be tolerant.
Don't feel like senior to junior. In making choices or decisions ask for your partner's opinion.

Be Careful
Don't jump into conclusions about whether the person will be fit for a wife/husband, a fling or a bed mate. Seduction may work for a shallow sex predicted fling. But a true lifetime relationship should be based on careful character assessment.

Love Language
This is the special emotional attachment in us that springs up love and comfort. We have five love languages namely;
1. Words of affirmation
2. Acts of service
3. Receiving gifts
4. Physical touch
5. Spending quality time

Prefix and Status
Don't start by letting your partner know how well to do you are and also don't start complaining about how poor you are either. Just be plain and natural.

Note that: Asking questions and making suggestions in a date endangers relaxation and openness.

I hope these few tips will help you with your new date.

IS GOD ANGRY WITH NIGERIA

IS GOD ANGRY WITH NIGERIA?

When my friend said this I thought to myself this will be an interesting topic for adorablefaces to ponder on.

The darkness that has enveloped my beautiful nation NIGERIA. The scorching heat that is biting hard with no mercy. Last night was no exception. "I don't want to experience another night like this oo" aunty Nkiru said soliloquizing as she wiped the sweat dripping down her face, her cotton singlet was soaked. "Kai this change" she said hands akimbo

I and Bolaji get to work by 7:15 am everyday but today happened to be a different ball game o" Dayo listened attentively
That's how we woke up at our usual 5am and thought as usual we will get a bus to the office, hmmm my brother that's how we waited yet no bus till 9am. What is this country turning into ehn? Then finally one good Samaritan came along and stopped for us to enter. People called in to the radio station we listened to to complain of fuel scarcity and traffic.

Someone said if the heat doesn't affect you, the traffic will and if that doesn't do the trick...the "no fuel" will...!

This country needs to ask the necessary questions.

FAQ
What are we doing wrong?
Should we continue to support the government?
Should we pray some more?

Let's figure out what our country is not doing right.
